Mohamed Ramadan, the popular Egyptian actor and singer, performed at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on 13 January in the Ivory Coast. Ramadan is the only Arab participant in the official song for the tournament, which won't take place until 2023, alongside Ivorian musicians Magic System and Nigerian singer Yemi Alade. A number of African artists also performed at the ceremony, which was attended by former football stars including Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, and Ahmed Hassan. Egypt's national team is competing in the tournament in a group including Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde.
